Birth Comb

This wooden birth comb may be used in labor to help relieve pain. The teeth of the comb are held to the base of your fingers on the palm of your hand, applying acupressure. According to the gate control pain theory, the brain can only focus on a select number of sensations. The nerve endings in your hands are closer together, which means they reach your brain faster, so squeezing the comb in labor may help distract your body from contractions.
