When will my baby sleep through the night?
If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me that question….
It is important that we have realistic expectations. Infants are growing at a very fast rate and are in need of night time feeds for the first several weeks of their lives. When I get asked this question, my answer is usually something along the lines of “Sometime after 2 months old.” We want babies to be healthy, gain weight, and thrive. This means checking in with your pediatrician and being sure that your baby is maintaining his/her growth curve when you start to cut back night time feeds. In the meantime, the following tips will help lay a great foundation for healthy sleep habits in your baby:

Ms. Woody’s experience includes complex divorce litigation, child custody and parenting issues, child support modification and enforcement, non-traditional family formation and dissolution, adoption, and estate planning matters. Ms. Woody is an active member of the Colorado Bar Association (CBA) and Denver Bar Association and is Co-Secretary and Executive Council Member of the CBA Young Lawyers Division. Ms. Woody has implemented a solution-focused approach to the firm’s cases and believes that an amicable and fair settlement is almost always better for all parties and children involved than an intense court battle that could take months or even years.
Woody Law Firm can assist clients on a traditional or limited basis, and the team works with each client to determine the scope of service that is the best fit. We enjoy serving everyone from:
- New mothers who seek to understand (and enforce) their rights and responsibilities,
- Fathers seeking to establish or maintain relationships with their children,
- Men and women who find themselves needing to make a fresh start after several years of marriage, and
- Same-sex parents who seek legal recognition of their parental relationships.

Anna Timmons owns Evergreen Rolfing and is a board certified Structural Integrator™. Rolfing® got it’s admittedly unbecoming name after it’s founder, Dr Ida Rolf developed the work in the 1940’s through the 1970’s. It is simply hands on therapy. It is a therapy to help people, no matter the age, to overcome aches and pains. Acute (short term, or recent injury) or chronic (persistent pain lasting longer than 6 months) Rolfing is a process to help increase resiliency and adaptability while reducing pain. Side benefits might include a better, more comfortable posture, better body awareness, increased range of motion and inevitably more movement options. These things can also lead to a freer, happier mind!
Anna has been in practice for over 5 years and has been honored to be an assistant instructor at the Rolf Institute as well as sit on the board for The International Association of Structural Integrators. Her interests lie in helping people live well. That means Anna tries her best to also receive regular bodywork, eat and move in happy, healthy ways, and get solid rest. Mountain biking, road cycling, cross country skiing and hiking in her home state and abroad are her passions. She lives in Evergreen with her husband, and is grateful to have almost all her family in Denver. She has an office in Bergen Park and in Wheat Ridge. See evergreenrolfing.com for more information.

I love my job, and I work really, really hard.
A lot goes on behind the scenes, though, and I need to take a moment to say thank you to my husband, who is absolutely vital to my success as a doula.

Can Chiropractic Care Help With My Baby’s Latch?
Do you remember being born?
Me neither. Thank goodness!
I remember giving birth, though. That was hard work! It’s hard work for a baby making their way through the birth canal as well! It only makes sense that their little spines would be out of alignment after that experience. This often causes latch and suckling issues in infants.
Does Your Baby Prefer One Breast Over the Other?
You probably answered yes. Babies often develop a preference, and that is normal. However, they may prefer nursing on one side because it hurts to nurse on the other side. Getting your baby adjusted can give her a better range of motion to take either breast comfortably.
Dr. Katy Mooberry is a chiropractor here in Evergreen, Colorado. She has her certification in Pediatric Chiropractic and is also certified in the Webster Technique. She discusses common breastfeeding problems and how chiropractic care can help on her blog. Read her full blog post here.
February 25, 2016 | Book Reviews
Since Sophia Amoruso is on of my new heroes, I took the recommendation from #GirlBoss and read The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason.
I love the simplicity of this book.
I tend to overthink things (I can hear everyone who knows me laughing right now and saying “Ya think?”) so it’s refreshing to have the message in this book stripped down to the basic concepts. This book was originally written in 1926, which was a simpler time for sure. But the book takes us back much further to the city of Babylon and stories of those most financially prosperous during that time. Without the complications of 401Ks, business write offs, college funds, etc. it is easier to convey the “Five Laws of Gold” as they are called in the book.
An abundance of wisdom lies in the pages of this book, so I would recommend reading it in its entirety. There is no magic formula to get rich quick. No new secret. Just timeless advice such as the following:
- Save no less than 10% of your income (off the top- before paying anyone else.)
- Not only save at least 10%, but invest some of that as well.
- Seek the advice of experts in the areas you wish to invest in.
- Do not invest in things you know nothing about (or give money to people who are starting a business they know nothing about.)
- Do not be fooled by “get rich quick” schemes; be patient.
